Hoi An town - Vietnam
image

Hoi An was Vietnam’s foremost port from the 16th century to the late 19th century with merchants from both Asia and Europe trading everything from spices to gold. Located on the bank of Thu Bon River 30 kilometres south of Danang, this is now a quiet riverside town dotted with temples, shrines and Chinese style tile-roofed wooden houses. The town’s traditional lifestyle and Chinese architecture have remained virtually unspoiled since the 17th century, and Hoi An has been declared one of Vietnam’s four UNESCO World Heritage sites. Indeed, it is the slow pace of life that makes this charming town well worth a visit.

Excursions Around Hoi An Town

Just a few kilometers out of town, Cua Dai Beach’s golden sands provide a nice place to unwind over fresh seafood. Explore the small villages on a bicycle and discover artisans crafting pottery in the narrow streets. For day trips out of Hoi An, opt for the historical Cham statues at My Son or to the Marble Mountain where caves, temples and magnificent views await at the summit.

Cua Dai Beach

The pristine beach is located in the about 5 kilometers away from the town of Hoi An. Roaming around this pristine beach is in itself a charming experience. Walking through the white sand of the beach is awesome. The environment is very peaceful and relaxing. You can reach this pleasant beach only in few minutes by riding a bicycle.

Cham Island Diving Center

Cham Island Diving Center (30 km from Da Nang int’l airport) operates in the old city with its Office Bar and Restaurant and in Cham Islands with daily scuba diving and snorkeling tours. Overnight stay camping in the island front on the sea is another option where water activities as Scuba Diving, snorkeling and swimming meet the islands. Coral gardens, rock formations, wild islands and tropical beaches, authentic fishing villages give you a unique chance to spend part of your vacation outside of the usual path.

My Son Sanctuary

The My Son remnants are considered the largest and most holy temple complex of the Champa Kingdom in the south central coastal area. The complex is comparable to other great structures which bear the hallmarks of Indian civilization in the Southeast Asian region.Located 68 km (42 miles) southwest of Hoi An, My Son lies in an emerald circular valley about 2 kilometers in diameter. Our drive by vehicle takes about an hour and a half to reach the site. It is surrounded by hills and mountains.

Tra Que Village

Tra Que is a charming little village on the edge of Hoi An, the village is named after the sweet scented vegetables that spice up the everyday meals of the Pho Hoi people. Here a new spirit for traditional Hoi An dishes like Cao Lau, Quang noodles, the local ‘Tam huu' spring roll (made from Tra Que vegetables) and cake with meat (Banh xeo) has been enlivened. Enjoy a cookery class with your host. Experience a day of living and working with the local people in Tra Que vegetable village, in which you will have a chance to discover the daily life of farmers.
